Common help

Sync is not updating

1. Confirm you are signed into iCloud with the same Apple Account on each device.
2. Open CookThisToo and make sure iCloud Sync is enabled.
3. Open Account and choose Sync Now.

Apple Intelligence features are missing or unavailable

1. Use an Apple Intelligence-eligible device running iOS 26 or macOS 26.
2. Turn on Apple Intelligence in System Settings and wait for its on-device model to finish preparing.
3. Open CookThisToo > Account and turn on Apple Intelligence Features. The setting is off by default and is hidden on ineligible devices.

Import a recipe from a link or photo

Open Add Recipe, choose recipe import, then enter a recipe link or select a clear photo containing both the ingredient list and directions. A standard recipe card can be imported from a link; interpreting an unstructured page or photo requires Apple Intelligence.

Review every imported ingredient, amount, temperature, time, and instruction against the original before cooking. AI can omit, misunderstand, or incorrectly organize details.

Use the other Apple Intelligence tools

Use Ask Apple Intelligence from recipe search for natural-language requests. From a recipe, you can request a recipe review, instruction adaptation, translation, or pantry substitution. The Home recommendation can explain why it was selected. Allergy and dislike filters remain active, but suggestions are not a guarantee against allergens, cross-contact, nutritional issues, or unsafe cooking temperatures.

Recipe translation is waiting for a download

The first translation for a language may require Apple to download language files. Keep CookThisToo open until it finishes. Confirm the language pair is supported and connect to the internet if the download has not started.

Restore Remove Ads

On iPhone or iPad, open Account and choose Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account used for the original purchase. The Mac version is already ad-free.

Missing reminders or timer alerts

Open system Settings and allow CookThisToo to access Reminders or Notifications, then retry the export or cooking timer. The in-app countdown still works while the cooking screen remains open if notifications are denied.

Report a recipe issue

Open the recipe and choose the recipe issue option. Review the generated email, add what seems wrong, and send it to support.

Before reinstalling

Custom recipe photos always remain on this device, and other recipes or preferences may not have synced yet. Sync or export important recipes and keep separate copies of important photos before deleting the app.

Delete account and synced data

Open Account, find iCloud Sync, and choose Delete Synced Data. CookThisToo deletes the private CloudKit records before clearing the corresponding local account data, so a connection failure does not erase the only remaining copy.
